Transformers fitted...power up!

Fitted the two transformers and have powered up the DAC...All is very good tested all inputs at different bitsreams very happy with sound, but of course will have to modify. Please excuse dodgy wiring and don't try this at home unless you know what your doing!

Need two transformers!

Actually will be needing two transformers for the moment, or one with 2x separate secondary wiring's....Not really stressed have already picked one for analog/filter section which supplied 13v,ov,13v AC. I need one for digital section power supply 0v,9v AC. So I will be test running the DAC with this setup, but the next step in this project will be to bypass the analog/filter section all together...So i will be back to one transformer then:-)

Hello everyone! Welcome to my BLOG. Seeing that most Blogs are boring as bat shit I decided to make mine even more boring to the average layperson and dedicate this to HI-FI. So lucky for u audiophiles out there! So first up I will be posting some pics and notes on me building a 24bit 192Khz DAC convertor for my Hi-fi. Truth be told the main assembly of the DAC PCB assembly has already been done by some poor Chinese man in Hong Kong, all I will be adding is a mains power transformer, casework and some modifications I have picked up from this good DIY audio website http://www.diyaudio.com/

This will be a part time project so posting will be infrequent...here are some pics of the DAC as it arrived from Hong Kong (thanks to Mako and Ebay)

This unit uses a Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC (Pic.4 lower right) for u techheads out there which can handle 24bit 192khz SPDIF audio streams, using the optional plug in daughter board (Pic5). This unit can take standard SPDIF digital stream on optical, coaxial and USB 48khz also which is a bonus

So basically now I have to find a suitable power transformer to get this cranking...
